Knights Upended by Corban
February 6, 2010The host Knights (17-7, 9-5 CCC) started strong, forging an eight point lead with four minutes gone in the first half. The tide changed quickly however, and the Warriors (7-19, 2-13 CCC) battled back to earn a nine point lead of their own (28-19) at the 11:06 mark. WP fought back to tie the game at 40-40 before a Marcus Butler layup gave Corban a two point advantage at the break.
The second half was close throughout, but the Knights gained the lead just once – 65-64 with 6:45 to play on a Jake Glisson jump shot. Corban surged back to the lead and held it the rest of the game, save a 70-70 score at 4:59 to play.
From that point Corban went on a 9-0 run from which the Knights could not recover. Ben Potloff kept WP at bay down the stretch by hitting 5 of 6 free throws and the visitors celebrated the six point victory.
Kaylone Riley was the top scorer for Warner Pacific, hitting for 19 points and adding 8 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Glisson chipped in with 18 points, and Reggie Guyton tallied 17.
Potloff led the Warriors with 24 points, including 9-14 from the free throw line. Ian Logan and Nash Keene added 18 and 17 points respectively.
