ASHLAND, Ore. - The Warner Pacific track & field team placed 8th on both the men's and women's side of competition at the Cascade Conference Championships held at Southern Oregon University on Friday and Saturday.
The Knight women tallied 41 team points, 20 of which came through
Alyssa Neal who earned event wins in the long jump and triple jump in record breaking fashion. On Friday she posted a distance of 5.97 meters in long jump, breaking the meet record easily and improving her own WPC program record. The sophomore then followed up on Saturday with another meet record in the triple jump with an effort of 11.77 meters.
Neal will be the lone Knight representing the team at the NAIA National Championships.
Throwers
Kristen Swim and
Jordan Hunter also scored well for Warner Pacific. Swim placed in the shotput (5th, 12.21 meters), the discus (7th, 35.55 meters), and the hammer (6th, 41.48 meters), while Hunter scored points in the discus (4th, 41.78 meters).
The WP men put 11 points on the board with a limited entry list. Johnnie Clark (pole vault),
Michael Moreland (high jump), and
Bobby Waldie (javelin) all placed 6th in their respective events.
