PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific couldn't find a way through the Corban defense in a 1-0 loss to the 9th ranked Warriors on Saturday night in Portland. The Basics• Score: Corban 1, Warner Pacific 0• Records: WPC (8-6-1, 7-4-1 CCC), CRB (13-2, 9-2 CCC)• Location: Damazo Field, Portland, Ore.• The Short Story: The Knights had several good chances, but the Corban defense was up to the task as the Warriors earned the shutout on the road. The result gave Coran their ninth CCC win of 2015 and the inside track on a first round bye in the playoff tournament. How it Happened• The teams battled between the 18's for much of the first half, though each team managed to fire five shots toward goal.• Corban's winning goal came in the 56th minute thanks to the work of Quamie Dinnall, who worked down the left channel and crossed a pass to an open Armando Guevara.• The Warriors nearly tacked on a second a few minutes later, but Kemar Prince's free kick would only graze the corssbar. • Subsitute Bailey Thomason nearly leveled the score for WPC in the 83rd minute, but Corban goalkeeper Jordan Farr made a cruical stop.• WPC pressed for a goal in the closing moments, but Corban answered every Knight foray into their defensive half of the field. • The Knights will host Eastern Oregon next Saturday, and will honor their seniors before the game.
