PORTLAND, Ore. - Mario Guizar scored a goal for Warner Pacific with three seconds left in the 2nd overtime period to stun Eastern Oregon 1-0 at a soaked Damazo Field.The Basics• Score: Warner Pacific 1, Eastern Oregon 0 (2OT)• Records: WPC (10-7-1, 8-4-1 CCC), EOU (7-9, 5-8 CCC)• Location: Damazo Field, Portland, Ore.• The Short Story: It was a dream senior night for Mario Guizar, as the midfielder drilled a shot from 25 yards out as time was expiring to give the Knights a 1-0 win over Eastern Oregon. With the clock ticking away, all the players on the pitch seemed resigned to a draw, but Guizar worked his way through the midfield and laced a shot just out of the reach of EOU keeper Alfredo Lara. The result gives WPC the 6th seed in the CCC Championship Tournament, and the Knights will face Great Falls in a quarterfinal matchup. How it Happened• First half action was fairly subdued, as the teams felt each other out and determined how to attack in the heavy rain.• The Knights had a pair of free kicks from dangerous areas, but Guizar's effort on both were not on target.• WPC keeper Erdal Barkay was forced to make a diving save in the 58th minute, turning away Jesus Trejo's offering. • Guizar then hit the post with a drive in the 71st minute.• EOU pressed forward from the whistle in the first overtime period, generating two corner kicks and forcing Barkay into another key save.
• The Mountaineers tallied two more shots and two more corner kicks in the second overtime, but it was Guizar who found the space when it counted, sending the Knights bench into bedlam.
