Men's Soccer Announces Six Additions to 2015 Roster

PORTLAND, Ore. - Head Coach Chris Thoms has announced that six players have signed letters of intent to participate in men's soccer at Warner Pacific in 2015.
Will Brewer
Cesar Contreras
Julian Hassel
Duran Herrera
Jarouwit "J.J." James
Johannes Reiber

Will Brewer (Beaverton, Ore.), Cesar Contreras (Tigard, Ore.), Julian Hassel (Portland, Ore.), Duran Herrera (Portland, Ore.), Jarouwit James (Bangkok, Thialand), and Johannes Reiber (Lawrence, Kan.) will join the Knights this coming fall. Will Brewer is a 5-8 midfielder who will be an incoming freshman. He was a varsity player at Sunset High School in Beaverton, and a long-time club player and team captain with Westside Timbers. "Will has experience versus top competition in both club and high school situations," said coach Thoms. "He has good skills and plenty of pace. We are fortunate to have to have him in our program as a freshman."

Local high school player Cesar Contreras, a 5-7 winger, will join WPC in 2015. He is the younger brother of current Knight player Edgar Contreras. Cesar was a stand-out player at Tigard High School and with Crossfire Oregon. "Cesar has shown his quality in tryout sessions and has a bright future at Warner Pacific," said Thoms.

Two players from Portland will attend Warner Pacific; 6-4 defender Julian Hassel, and 5-9 defender Duran Herrera. Hassel played his high school soccer at Franklin High School and is a club soccer veteran with Portland City United. Herrera just wrapped up a standout career at Portland's LaSalle High School and with Crossfire Oregon on the club side. He was named 2nd Team All-League (4A Tri-Valley) as a junior, and Honoarble Mention All-League (5A NW Oregon) as a senior. "Julian has a chance to contribute immediately in central defense and will only get better with more experience. Duran is young player with good instincts that is a big part of our future. I am looking forward to seeing them both in a Knight uniform," commented coach Thoms.

International player Jarouwit James will suit up for the Knights also this fall. James, a 5-8 midfielder, is from Phuket, Thailand and played soccer at Bangkok Patana High School. "JJ is a highly technical player that really impressed me in our tryouts and spring sessions. He is a smart and creative midfielder that could really be a force in our conference," said coach Thoms.

Johannes Reiber comes to Portland from Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas where he started 27 games in two seasons, scoring 2 goals and passing for 5 assists. "We are very fortuante that Johannes chose to come to the west coast," said coach Thoms. "He was a vital part of the midfield at Johnson County which is a very strong junior college program. He is composed and confident with the ball at his feet, and I predict he will be an impact player for us in 2015."

"I am excited to have these players in our program and as students at Warner Pacific," said coach Thoms. "It's my goal to develop each one as soccer players and help them reach their goals academically. I can't wait to get started with the team this fall."
